The Easter Party

The sun was out for our Easter Party at the end of March. Children enjoyed hunting for colourful Easter eggs hidden around the playground at Strassen Park and were then rewarded with their own big chocolate eggs. The crafts went down well and some wonderful Easter rabbit masks, baskets and wreaths were created. We finished […]

BLC Quiz Night

We had a blast at the Quiz night, brilliantly organised by our Events Manager. As always, Geoff Thompson was our grey-matter-stimulating quiz master and a curry dish spiced it all up. The first three teams walked away with lovely gifts but all participants left with a smile.

A Hidden Gem in Mersch

In March, NW and NE area reps joined forces and organised a fabulous evening at Atypic Restaurant Bar in Mersch. Tucked away at the train station, this Mediterranean spot is a true hidden gem! The interior decor is tastefully chosen, adding to the overall charm of the establishment. A glowing wood burner welcomed us with […]

My Year as a BLC Area Coordinator part 5

By now, you might have noticed by the photographs accompanying each part of this story of mine, that some of the same faces keep appearing over and over again. I feel confident, therefore, that you will be able to guess at least some of the ladies that joined me for a lovely dinner in August! We […]

Freewheelers do bowling

For a change, our lovely Freewheelers group of ladies met at I AM WOW in City Concorde in February. Four players and some loyal spectators had fun giggling their way through bowling with some impressive results! To join them on their next outing.

West & South West at Darjeeling Restaurant

Ten members from the North West and South West areas gathered for a final dinner at Darjeeling Restaurant before its closure. The evening was filled with lively conversation, helpful advice, and delicious Indian and Tibetan dishes. Arts and Crafts Morning

Area South West members enjoyed a delightful craft and cakes morning on the last Friday of January. After a quick coffee and a chat at IKEA, it was off to  Kleinbettingen to Ruth’s house. Beating the January Blues in Alpine Style!

The NW area January dinner at Edelwyss was the perfect way to shake off the post-holiday slump! Stepping into this cozy chalet-style restaurant felt like being whisked away to a ski resort—minus the snow but with all the alpine charm. On a particularly chilly evening, 12 lively ladies gathered around a warm and welcoming table, […]

My Year as a BLC Area Coordinator part 3

In April, we decided to do a joint event with the NE area coordinator Karen and we met in Mersch to enjoy some Italian delicacies at Dimmi Si. The food was fine but maybe expectations were too high, so we left a little disappointed. May, being a month of rebirth and awakening, made our taste […]

Children’s Christmas Party

The spirit of Christmas was in the air at the Salle des Fêtes in Merl mid-December… As it was snowing outside, our Christmas music played inside and we had a jolly time! Fifty children and their family members joined the party. Children enjoyed decorating wooden snowflakes, foam gingerbread men and salt dough Christmas shapes to […]

My Year as a BLC Area Coordinator part 2

In February 2023, we chose the Maki Sushi shop in Steinfort as the venue for our get together. What convinced us was the fact they had a sushi train! Steinfort has many good restaurants and it is close to the Belgium border, with easy access for our trans-border members, as well.

Coffee & Mince Pies

Our lovely Ruth Thompson decided to host a coffee and mince pies morning for the second year in a row. It was a great and very well attended morning, as witnessed by photo evidence below. With a charitable aim, €465 were collected in favour of Think Pink.

Christmas Lunch 2024

In  December we had the traditional BLC Christmas lunch. As every year, it was a wonderful social event in the club’s calendar, where old friends catch up, new connections are forged, delicious food enjoyed and a wonderful afternoon is had! This year, however, we moved into a bigger room to be able to accommodate more […]

Peanut Butter Spider Cookies

During the week-long Halloween holidays, I decided to try out the recipe from the October newsletter. At one point, my oldest took over and rushed me out of the kitchen to finish baking and then decorating the PEANUT BUTTER SPIDER COOKIES by herself. The result was delicious and pleasing to the eye; so much so […]

Jimmy’s Ethiopian Restaurant

Six of us from the NW area gathered in November for another fantastic evening, this time at Jimmy’s Ethiopian Restaurant in Heiderscheid. It was a true gourmet extravaganza paired with plenty of lively chatter! We had the restaurant entirely to ourselves, which made it possible for our host to thoughtfully rearrange a cozy area just […]

Cocktail Evening in the City

In October we finally brought our cocktail evenings back! Our new Events manager chose a cozy venue in the city centre, where six of us met for a chat and a drink, forging new connections while discussing living in Luxembourg, exchanging ideas and opinions. Loads of giggles later, after most of us have left already, […]
