Chair Report

The summer months bring with them a particular kind of invitation. After an extraordinary period of energy, momentum, and achievement, July and August offer us something equally important: the chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and savour all that we have built. This has been, without question, one of the most remarkable periods in the Club’s recent history, and I am enormously proud of every single woman who has contributed to it.

A Historic Evening: The Women’s Startup Pitch Evening

On Thursday 4 June, the British Ladies’ Club of Luxembourg held its inaugural Women’s Startup Pitch Evening at Hall Victor Hugo in Limpertsberg. The room was alive with energy, ambition, and the spirit of female entrepreneurship that sits at the heart of what we are building together.

We were deeply honoured to welcome H.E. Joanne Olivier, British Ambassador to Luxembourg and chair of our judging panel for the evening, and H.E. Stacey Feinberg, US Ambassador to Luxembourg. Both delivered compelling and inspiring opening addresses on women’s entrepreneurship, innovation, and the power of visibility. Their presence lent the evening a significance that extended well beyond our own community.

As I said in my opening remarks, this initiative did not begin with a strategy document. It began over a dinner conversation at one of our cocktail evenings, discussing what some of us wanted to be doing and how the BLC could support such women, give them a platform, and connect them with the people and resources that can help their ideas take root and become more visible. Through the BLC, we try to address every aspect of a woman’s life, and entrepreneurship is one of them.

Four exceptional finalists took to the stage to present their early-stage projects, each bringing something distinct and genuinely impressive:

Mariya Erokhina, EyeTrustAI, an AI trust and verification concept addressing the risks of companies deploying AI without fully understanding its implications;

Olga Meaurault, Go-To-Market Luxembourg, an AI-powered growth marketing agency helping startups and scale-ups find clients, generate revenue, and gain visibility with limited budgets;

Roksana Skubis, Réaclyse, a sustainability-focused project exploring circularity, personal accountability, and environmental responsibility;

Jess Bauldry, EarGlasses, an educational platform teaching media literacy, critical thinking, and intercultural dialogue to young people through podcasting.

Each finalist had been accompanied by dedicated mentors since the confirmation of their application:

Svetlana Grishankova, BLC Treasurer and finance and ESG professional, and Julie Ayres Smith, finance transformation specialist and Club member, who supported each founder in shaping and preparing their pitch in the weeks leading up to the evening.

The judging panel was chaired by Ambassador Olivier, joined by Giulia Iannucci (Vice Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg) and Christine O’Bright (Founder of Bright Futures). Our moderator, Emily Fitzgerald, BLC Public Relations Manager, engaged the audience throughout the evening with warmth and energy, and kept us all on time. Following deliberation, the judging panel announced that the winner of the inaugural BLC Women’s Startup Pitch Evening was Olga Meaurault with Go-To-Market Luxembourg. Olga was subsequently interviewed by Paperjam, a recognition of the quality and relevance of her project.

The BLC is now increasingly recognised as a serious voice in Luxembourg’s international community, one that speaks to the full breadth of a woman’s life, from connection and culture to ambition and enterprise.

What Comes Next

I am delighted to confirm that we will be holding a second edition of the BLC Women’s Startup Pitch Evening in 2027, and we will be pursuing additional funding and partnerships to grow the event further. We also announced during the evening

the forthcoming launch of a quarterly Female Founder Speaker Series. More details to follow in due course.

Embrace the Pace: A Summer to Restore and Reconnect

Luxembourg in July is something to be celebrated. With over sixteen hours of daylight at the solstice, the sun rising before six in the morning and not setting until well past nine in the evening, this is a country that rewards those who take time to look up. The evenings are long and golden, the countryside is at its greenest, and the lakes and rivers offer a freshness and quiet that is all too easy to forget we need.

After the intensity of the past months, I genuinely encourage every member to give herself permission to slow down. There is a philosophy gaining recognition across many cultures around the idea of slowness: slow eating, slow travel, slow living. When we consume, experience, and connect at a slower pace, we appreciate more fully and notice what we might otherwise rush past, so that when the time comes to move quickly again, we have the reserves to do so with clarity and purpose.

Whether you find yourself swimming in the beautiful waters of Wieswampach, boating on the Remerschen lakes, walking the trails around Echternach, or simply sitting by the Moselle with a book and no particular agenda, I hope this summer gives you exactly what you need to allow you to recharge and reconnect with the people and places that restore you, so that we come back in September ready for all that is ahead.

Save the Date: Summer Picnic, Sunday 26 July 2026

Our membership team is pleased to invite all members, new and existing alike, to join us for our Summer Picnic on Sunday 26 July 2026 in Echternach, one of Luxembourg’s most beautiful settings. Dress code: white, so you will find us easily! For those who wish to arrive on foot, there is a lovely riverside walk. For those preferring to drive, parking is easily accessible nearby. We will share the full meeting point details ahead of the event.

It is a morning of food, conversation, short walks along the beautiful riverside, laughter, and everything in between, and the perfect opportunity to welcome new members into the fold and to reconnect with familiar faces after the summer. Registrations will open shortly through our membership team. We look forward to seeing many of you there!

Looking Ahead: Cocktail Evenings and the Gala Evening

Our monthly cocktail evenings resumed from mid-June and will continue through the year as an opportunity to meet and make new connections. Details of each individual event will be shared through our Club events team channels. A reminder too that our annual Gala Evening is planned for Saturday 3rd October 2026 at the Parc Hôtel Alvisse. Registrations will open in late August, but save the date in your diaries now. It is always one of the highlights of our calendar.

A Note of Gratitude

Seasons like this one do not happen by accident. They happen because of an extraordinary group of women who give their time, creativity, and commitment to this Club. To every committee member, volunteer, member, and Club supporter who turned up, pitched in, and made the past months what they were: thank you. I could not say it enough.

Enjoy the summer. You have earned it. Best regards, Amy Grech

Vanilla Almond Granola

This recipe only has 3 steps. That’s it! Honestly, it’s starting to

sound like going to the store to buy granola is way more work.

1. Mix together dry ingredients.

2. Mix together wet ingredients.

3. Combine the wet + dry, spread on a baking sheet, and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

Ingredients

• 2 and 1/2 cups (213g) old-fashioned whole rolled oats

• 3/4 cup (100g) slivered or sliced almonds

• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

• pinch salt (about 1/8 teaspoon)

• 1/2 cup (120ml) pure maple syrup

• 1/4 cup (56g) coconut oil, melted

• 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

• 1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract (yes, Tablespoon)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a

silicone baking mat.

Toss the oats, almonds, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside. In a medium

bowl, whisk the maple syrup and melted coconut oil together until combined. Whisk in

the almond and vanilla extracts. Pour over the oats and toss to coat. Make sure all of

the oats are moistened.

Spread out onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15

minutes. Allow granola to cool completely— Let the granola cool completely on the

baking sheet. This is where a lot of the crispy-crunchiness happens.

Notes

Make Ahead & Freezing Instructions: Granola is the perfect recipe to make ahead

because it stays fresh for so long. Store this in an airtight container at room

temperature for up to 3 weeks. You can also freeze it for up to 3 months.

Special Tools (affiliate links): Baking Sheet | Silicone Baking Mat or Parchment Paper |

Glass Mixing Bowls | Whisk | Silicone Spatula

Summer Plum Cake

This is such an easy cake to make, no fuss, simple ingredients that bring smiles to faces.

If looking for a little more decadence, add a cornel of mascarpone to a slice of warm cake.

Ingredients:

5 whole eggs

1/2 cup sugar

2/3 cups sour cream

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder (make sure it's not expired )

1 lemon zested (or lime)

3 sliced plums (peaches or apples will work too)

Method:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350F (180 C).

2. In a big bowl or stand mixer add in the eggs and sugar. Beat them for a few

minutes with a mixer until they are nice and pale yellow and look like a thick cream.

3. Now, add in your sour cream and lemon zest (optional) and mix it with the mixer

for a few seconds until incorporated.

4. Sift in the flour and baking powder to the wet ingredients and mix with the mixer

only until incorporated.

5. Pour the batter into a 9-inch cake pan or 10 x 7 inch rectangular baking dish,

making sure to spray it down first and line it with parchment paper.

6. Arrange thin slices of any fruit you like (I added a double layer of plums) and

bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool, cut, and enjoy!

7. Note: Icing sugar is totally optional once the cake has cooled.

Happy Baking

Kathy

A Night to Remember: The BLC Inaugural Women’s Startup Pitch Evening

4 June 2026 | Hall Victor Hugo, Limpertsberg

There are evenings that confirm what you hoped was possible, and then there are evenings that go further than that. The inaugural BLC Women’s Startup Pitch Evening, held on Thursday 4 June

2026 at Hall Victor Hugo in Limpertsberg, was very much the latter.

As guests filled the room, we were met with entrepreneurs, business leaders, diplomats, mentors, media, and members of Luxembourg’s international community. The atmosphere was electric.

After months of planning and preparation, the moment had finally arrived, and the excitement in the room was palpable. By the time the winner was announced, it felt as though the BLC itself had won a startup competition, that it was itself a startup enterprise, daring, energised, and very much open for business.

A Celebration of Women and Entrepreneurship

The evening was opened by Amy Grech, Chair of the BLC, who spoke about courage, visibility, and the journey that brought the event to life. As she shared in her opening remarks, this initiative did not begin with a strategy document. It began over a dinner conversation at one of our cocktail evenings, discussing what some of us wanted to be doing and how the BLC could support such women, give them a platform, and connect them with the people and resources that can help their ideas take root and become more visible. Many projects take life in a similar way. She also confirmed that the evening was conceived as the start of something larger, with the launch of a quarterly Female Founder Speaker Series to be organised by the BLC in the months ahead.

The evening was hosted by Emily Fitzgerald, PR & Marketing Officer of the BLC, who engaged the audience from the very first moments.

Words from the Ambassador

H.E. Joanne Olivier, British Ambassador to Luxembourg and chair of the judging panel, opened by thanking the BLC for its initiative and for shining a light on women in innovation. She acknowledged the wide range of nationalities represented in the room, a reflection, she said, of Luxembourg’s unique international character. She also recognised that the BLC had taken a real risk with thisevent, and that it was a risk very much worth taking.

H.E. Stacey Feinberg, US Ambassador to Luxembourg, spoke with candour and energy. She

explained that she was not a diplomat by profession, that as US Ambassador she is herself a

businesswoman who works constantly with female founders, and that she also visits schools regularly because she wants to see young talent in action and to encourage it. She shared that female entrepreneurs attract just four per cent of seed finance globally, and made the case for entrepreneurship as a mindset, not just a business model. She spoke of the importance of pitching and networking above almost everything else, and reminded the room that from an investor’s perspective, one business in ten succeeds, and succeeds spectacularly. These are odds worth taking.

Knowledge from Luxembourg’s Ecosystem

Before the pitches, guests heard from two organisations central to Luxembourg’s

entrepreneurial landscape. Adis Sabanovic of the House of Entrepreneurship gave a clear and practical overview of company set-up in Luxembourg, including the notable fact that a business licence costs just €50. He also covered the financial support available to founders, how to navigate social security and banking registration, and emphasised that the House of Entrepreneurship is able to accompany founders through the entire journey.

Representatives from Banque Raiffeisen spoke about corporate banking for startups, covering what is required to open a business account, what documentation is needed when requesting financing and why, and how the bank can guide founders through the process and towards other institutions that may be better placed to help depending on the profile of the business they are looking to set up.

The Pitches

Four finalists had been selected from a larger pool of applicants, who were also

invited to attend the evening as part of the audience. Each finalist had three

minutes to present and three minutes for questions, and in some cases it ran longer,

as we had a very engaged judging panel.

Mariya Erokhina, EyeTrustAI. An AI trust and verification concept designed to help

companies understand and address the risks of deploying artificial intelligence

technologies, exploring how to ensure their use is secure, responsible, and properly

governed.

Olga Meaurault, Go-To-Market Luxembourg. An AI-powered growth marketing

agency designed specifically for startups and scale-ups, focused on helping early-

stage businesses find clients, generate revenue, and gain visibility through search, AI

platforms, and automation, at a cost and pace suited to limited budgets.

Launched in January 2026, the project already counts three Luxembourg startup

clients.

Roksana Skubis, Réaclyse. A sustainability-focused project exploring circularity and

environmental responsibility, using a structured journalling methodology to

encourage clients to take action, track progress, and develop lasting habits around

more conscious and responsible choices.

Jess Bauldry, EarGlasses. An educational platform teaching media literacy, critical

thinking, and intercultural dialogue to young people through podcasting. The

project addresses a growing need in Luxembourg, where children receive their first

smartphones from as young as eight years old, often without the tools to distinguish

reliable information from misinformation. Currently being piloted in Junglinster.

While the judging panel deliberated, guests enjoyed a networking reception

accompanied by a Fireside Chat with Jessica Cooke, founder of Definance, on the

challenges and rewards of starting a business, which was expertly moderated by

Emily Fitzgerald, who ensured both guest and speaker felt at ease and offered the

audience genuine insights into the entrepreneurial journey.

The Awards

The judging criteria covered problem identification, solution quality, target market

definition, feasibility, cost structure and revenue logic, innovation, and pitch

quality, the same framework used throughout the competition from the first round.

First place: Olga Meaurault (Go-To-Market Luxembourg), awarded a €500 cash

prize donated by a former BLC Chairperson.

Second place: Jess Bauldry (EarGlasses), awarded a startup course offered by the

Polish Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg through its Women’s

Entrepreneurship Programme.

In closing the evening, Ambassador Olivier paid tribute to the exceptional quality

of all four presentations and wished every finalist continued success. The BLC is

proud to have created a platform worthy of them.

What Comes Next

At the close of the evening, our Chair, Amy Grech, confirmed that the BLC intends

to hold a second edition of the Startup Pitch Evening in 2027, and will be pursuing

additional funding and partnerships to develop the event further.

Coverage of the evening was published by both Chronicle.lu and Paperjam, and

the response across the BLC’s social media channels has been outstanding. This

was more than a Club event. It was a Club statement, and a testament to the

BLC’s commitment to supporting women in every aspect of their life.

Money Matters

Financial independence in relationships abroad

Moving to Luxembourg can be a significant boost to your household finances.

Bigger salaries, benefits, relocation packages, bonuses and allowances can all create

a sense of opportunity.

On paper, the household may be better off. But it can also change the way it

operates.

Maybe you moved because your partner received a brilliant opportunity. Maybe you

gave up your job, reduced your hours, stepped away from pension contributions, or

accepted lower-paid work to support the move, your family, or this phase of your lives.

Or maybe it’s the other way around, and your partner has taken a pay cut, career

break or step back to support your career.

Either way, there is a dynamic shift.

And then the questions begin:

• Is it our money, or does it feel like one person’s money?

• We may be better off as a household, but what about my career, pension, and

savings?

• How do we make sure both people feel safe, secure and valued?

• What happens if one person cannot find work, something happens to one

partner, or the relationship ends?

The key is open communication.

When your roles, income, location and responsibilities change, your financial

arrangements need to be reviewed too. Not because something is wrong, but

because something has changed.

You need to agree how to manage your finances in a way that protects both people,

so one partner is not quietly disadvantaged over the longer term.

Some helpful questions to talk through are:

• What are our joint goals, priorities and non-negotiables during this phase of life?

• How will we manage day-to-day money, including join expenses and personal

spending?

• How much money should each person have access to independently?

• If one partner is earning less or not earning, how will their pension, savings or

investments continue to be protected?

• What is the plan if this phase lasts longer than expected, one partner cannot

find suitable work, or the arrangement stops working?

This is where regular money check-ins can be incredibly helpful.

A monthly money date over coffee, a walk, or a glass of wine can be enough. Ask: Is

this still working? Does anything feel unfair? Is anyone feeling anxious, restricted, or left

behind?

These conversations can be useful at any stage of a relationship, not only when

moving countries. They matter when you have a child, one person studies, someone

changes career, a partner becomes ill, or one person takes on more unpaid work at

home.

The key thing to acknowledge is that you made this decision as a household.

The financial dynamics may have shifted, but both partners are still contributing. Paid

work, unpaid work, emotional labour, parenting, relocation admin, and career

sacrifice all count.

Moving countries, changing careers, raising families and entering new phases of life

can all be part of the joy and adventure of a relationship.

But joy feels much steadier when both people feel safe.

Financial independence inside a relationship is not about expecting the worst. It’s

about making sure the person you love has security, choice and dignity, whatever this

chapter brings.

Health Article

Looking After Your Health at Every Stage of Life

Health is one of our most valuable assets. Good health is the foundation for living a full and

rewarding life. It gives us the energy to enjoy time with family and friends, pursue our

interests, contribute to our communities, and make the most of every stage of life.

The COVID-19 pandemic reminded us just how precious our health is. While we have more

knowledge, resources, and medical advances than ever before, maintaining good health

still requires attention and care on a daily basis. The good news is that small, consistent

habits can make a significant difference to our long-term wellbeing.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to health, but there are some simple principles that

apply at every age. Building a good relationship with your GP is essential, helping you stay

on track with routine screenings, vaccinations, and health checks. Knowing your family

medical history can also provide valuable insight into potential health risks.

A balanced diet, regular exercise, quality sleep, and effective stress management all play

important roles in maintaining good health. It is also worth being mindful of tobacco and

alcohol consumption, as both are associated with a range of health problems. Regular skin

checks, sun protection, and routine eye examinations are equally important parts of

preventive healthcare.

Your 20s: Building Healthy Foundations

Your twenties are often a time of exploration, independence, and new experiences. It is also

an ideal time to establish healthy habits that will benefit you for decades to come.

Regular check-ups with your GP, staying up to date with vaccinations, and understanding

your family health history are important first steps. Routine gynaecological visits can help you learn more about reproductive health, contraception, cervical screening, and family

planning if relevant.

Learning what is normal for your body is invaluable. Regular breast awareness and

understanding your menstrual cycle can help you identify changes early. Although heart

disease may seem like a distant concern, it remains the leading cause of death in women

worldwide, making healthy lifestyle habits important from a young age.

Your 30s: Balancing Life and Health

For many women, the thirties bring increasing responsibilities, whether through careers, family life, or caring for others. Health can easily slip down the priority list.

This decade often raises questions around fertility, pregnancy, and hormonal health. Some

pregnancy-related conditions can increase the risk of heart disease later in life, highlighting the close connection between reproductive and cardiovascular health.

Maintaining a nutritious diet, staying physically active, and prioritising sleep become

increasingly important. Weight-bearing exercise and strength training can help build and

maintain bone density, providing protection against osteoporosis in later years.

Mental health deserves attention. Feelings of anxiety, depression, or persistent low mood

should never be dismissed as simply part of a busy life. Support and treatment are available,

and seeking help early can make a significant difference.

Your 40s: Navigating Change

The forties can be a particularly demanding decade. Many women find themselves

balancing work, family commitments, and caring for ageing parents, often while neglecting

their own needs.

Hormonal changes associated with perimenopause and menopause may begin during this

time. Symptoms such as changes in sleep, mood fluctuations, hot flushes, and weight gain

are common. Discussing symptoms with your healthcare provider can help you explore

management options.

As the risk of heart disease, certain cancers, and other chronic conditions increases, routine health screenings become increasingly important. Mammograms, bowel cancer screening, heart health assessments, and bone density evaluations may be recommended depending on your personal risk factors. The Luxembourg national breast and bowel cancer screening programmes start at age 45. If you don’t receive an invitation for a screening get in touch with your doctor and ask what you need to do.

Your 50s: Focusing on Healthy Ageing

For many women, the fifties are closely associated with menopause, although every woman's experience is unique.

This is an excellent time to focus on healthy ageing by prioritising strength, cardiovascular

fitness, flexibility, and joint health. Exercise routines may need to evolve, with activities such as walking, swimming, Pilates, yoga, and strength training offering significant benefits.

Nutrition also deserves renewed attention. Protein intake becomes increasingly important for maintaining muscle mass, while calcium, vitamin D, and other nutrients help support bone health. Some women may benefit from discussing supplements with their healthcare

provider.

This stage of life often brings opportunities to nurture friendships, strengthen social

connections, and invest time in activities that bring joy and fulfilment.

Your 60s and Beyond: Maintaining Strength and Independence

As we age, maintaining mobility, strength, and independence becomes increasingly

important. Heart health, bone health, balance, and muscle strength should remain priorities.

Regular physical activity, including strength training and balance exercises, can help reduce

the risk of falls and support everyday functioning. A healthy diet rich in nutrients continues to play a vital role in overall wellbeing.

Equally important are social connections, meaningful activities, and staying engaged with

the world around us. Good health is about much more than the absence of disease; it is

about maintaining quality of life.

How do we know our efforts are paying off?

The rewards often appear as sustained energy, better sleep, improved mood, stronger

resilience, and the ability to remain active and independent. Some benefits are immediate,

while others accumulate quietly over many years, reducing the risk of illness and supporting healthy ageing.

Sustaining Your Job Search: A Smarter Approach for Expat Women in Luxembourg

Re-entering the workforce as an expat women in Luxembourg can feel both exciting and

overwhelming. Alongside navigating a new job market and cultural expectations, many women are also balancing family responsibilities, identify shifts, and the pressure to “get back in” quickly. It’s no surprise that job searching can become exhausting.

The key to success, however, is not intensity – it’s sustainability. A sustainable job search is one you can maintain consistently over time without burnout. It balances action with reflection, productivity with wellbeing, and progress with patience.

In Luxembourg’s competitive and highly network-driven market, a thoughtful, strategic approach is far more effective than rushing to apply for everything at once. This is especially true when re-entering the workforce. As it offers a valuable opportunity not just to return to work, but to realign with what truly matters to you.

This month, we explore how to build a job search that supports your confidence, energy, and long-term career direction so that you can move forward with clarity rather than pressure.

Shift from Urgency to Strategy

Many job seekers begin with urgency – applying to as many roles as possible, every day. While this can feel productive, it often leads to frustration when responses are limited. In Luxembourg’s competitive and network-driven market, a more targeted approach is far more effective.

Targeting is not just about matching your CV to a job description. It’s about aligning your search with your values, strengths, and long-term career goals. This is especially important when re-entering the workforce, as it’s an opportunity to reset your direction, not just “get back in”.

Practical tips:

• Define your “non-negotiables” (e.g. flexibility, culture, leadership style, industry)

• Identify 2-3 target role types that genuinely fit your experience and aspirations

• Create a list of 15-20 companies in Luxembourg that align with your values

• Tailor your messaging to reflect why you’re interested – not just what you’ve done

Clarity here reduces wasted effort and increases the quality of your applications and conversations.

Build Confidence by Getting Clear on Your Value

Confidence doesn’t come from applying more – it comes from clarity. Many expat women

underestimate their value, particularly after a career break or relocation.

Practical tips:

• Write down 5-7 key achievements with measurable impact

• Identify your core strengths (e.g. leadership, problem-solving, influencing)

• Ask former colleagues for feedback to uncover patterns

• Develop a simple value statement: “I help [organisation] achieve [result] by [strengths].”

This clarity strengthens not only your applications, but how you present yourself in conversations.

Define and Communicate Your Personal Brand

Your personal brand is how others experience you professionally – your reputation, strengths, and the value you consistently bring. In a market like Luxembourg, where networks matter, a clear and consistent personal brand makes you more memorable and referable.

Practical tips:

• Ensure your LinkedIn profile reflects your target roles, not just your past titles

• Use a strong headline that positions you (e.g. “HR Leader │ Driving People Strategy in

International Environments”)

• Share occasional insights, comments, or updates to increase visibility

• Align your CV, LinkedIn, and networking message so they tell the same story.

A clear personal brand builds confidence – and helps others advocate for you.

Create a Weekly Rhythm That Works for You

Structure is essential, but it should be realistic. Instead of treating your job search like a full-time job,

build a weekly rhythm you can sustain.

Practical tips:

• Block 2-hour focused sessions instead of full days to avoid fatigue

• Assign themes to days (e.g. “Networking Tuesday”, “Application Thursday”)

• Set a clear “end time” to protect your energy and avoid overworking

Networking Is Not Optional – It’s Central

In Luxembourg, many roles are filled through connections before they are publicly advertised. For

expat women, this can feel intimidating, especially when starting from scratch.

Practical tips:

• Reach out to 2-3 new people per week on LinkedIn with a short, personalised message

• Prepare a concise introduction aligned with your target roles

• Attend events or informal coffees regularly

• Follow up within 48 hours to maintain the connection

Manage Energy, Not Just Time

A sustainable job search recognises that energy fluctuates. Some days will feel productive and

confident while others may bring doubt.

Practical tips:

Identify your “peak hours” and schedule important tasks (applications, interviews) for that time

Keep a “low energy task list” (updating LinkedIn, researching companies) for slower days

Limit rejection exposure – review feedback once, extract learning, then move on

Leverage Your Expat Advantage

As an expat, you bring international experience, adaptability, and cross-cultural awareness – highly

valued in Luxembourg’s global workforce.

Practical tips:

• Highlight remote or cross-border collaboration examples

• Position yourself as someone who can work across cultures – not someone “new to the

market”

Keep Momentum Through Small Wins

Sustainability comes from visible progress, especially during quieter periods.

Practical tips:

• Set weekly goals you can control (e.g. number of outreach messages sent)

• Keep a “wins list” to track positive responses, conversations, and milestones

• Celebrate progress – this builds confidence and motivation over time

A Long-Term Mindset

Job searching in Luxembourg often takes time, particularly when re-entering the workforce or

changing direction. A sustainable approach helps you stay engaged, confident, and focused – even

when progress feels slower than you’d like.

Practical tips:

• Set a 6-12 week horizon for your search to reduce pressure

• Build in regular breaks or “no job search” days

• Consider interim options (freelance, contract, volunteering) to stay active and visible

Rather than asking, “How quickly can I find a job?”, a more powerful question is: “Am I clear on the

value I bring – and am I targeting the right opportunities for me?”

When your job search is built on clarity, alignment, and a strong sense of professional identity,

momentum follows more naturally. Sustainable success comes not just from persistence, but from

showing up consistently with confidence and intention.

In our next issue, we’ll focus on interviews – how to prepare with confidence, communicate your

value clearly, and show up as your best professional self.
