About us
The British Ladies Club of Luxembourg (BLC) was first formed in 1969 by a small group of women living in Luxembourg. Despite its name it is essentially a social-networking club for all levels of English speaking women, living in and around Luxembourg, regardless of their nationality.
One of the primary aims of the BLC is to help newcomers settle into Luxembourg life and to provide social contact for all. The Club has approximately 200 members only half of whom are British. We also have members living in France, Belgium and Germany, especially close to the Luxembourg borders.
Our members ages range from women in their early 20’s to women in their 60s or over. All are from a wide range of backgrounds with various experiences in business, home life, travel and life experience. The Club is vibrant, varied and successfully responds to peoples interests and needs.
We are a non-profit organisation (ASBL) who raises money for various charities in and around Luxembourg. Each year at our AGM the committee and our members vote on the charities they would like us to support. We raise money from our membership fees, advertisers in our newsletter, various events and activities held throughout the year as well as our famous Car Boot Sale, this year to be held on April 19 at the Belle Etoile car park. For our current year (2025/2026) we are supporting the following charities Femme en detresse and KJT – Kanner-Jugendtelefon
Which Area Do You Live in ?

The Club is divided into 5 geographical areas primarily to enable women, when they first join the Club to meet others who live nearby. Each area has one or two Area Representatives (Area Reps). When you initially join the BLC probably the first person you will meet or hear from will be your Area Rep, who will live quite nearby to you, and will be able to introduce you to other women also living nearby. She will also be able to help out with any queries you may have if you are new to the country. Area Reps also organise social events locally which include for example, coffee mornings, potluck lunches, bowling evenings, walks in the woods, trips out to restaurants and the cinema. Area events are also open to members from other areas. So if you feel like going to an event that appeals to you but is out of your “area” you are more than welcome!

POTENTIAL NEW GROUPS
Bridge
After years of running the bridge club, Paula McSherry has stepped down as organiser. The club would like to thank her for all her hard work organising the group and we would love to get this long standing group up and running again.
We are looking for a volunteer to take the helm and for players that would be interested in a regular meet up.
If you think that you can help or are interested in playing please contact the committee at committee@blc.lu
Book Club
We’ve had them in the past and now we are getting many request to start the Book Club up again. If you could spare a morning, afternoon or an evening and would like to organise this group, let us know and we will help you get started. Drop us an email to committee@blc.lu
If you have any other group ideas, feel free to get in touch at committee@blc.lu
