International Women’s Day Collection

International Women’s Day (March 8th) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. It has been observed since the early 1900s

This year, the committee has decided that it would like to mark the day by having a collection of toiletries especially for women, so they can be distributed to the Foyer Dom Bosco, with whom we already have links.

We would love to give every woman at the shelter a selection of toiletries. There will be various collection points around the country in order for you to drop off any products from the following list that you would like to donate. We will then bag the items up for distribution.

  • Shampoo, conditioner
  • Shower gel
  • Soap
  • Toothpaste and tooth brushes
  • Deodorant
  • Hand cream/body lotion
  • Tissues
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Sanitary products, such as tampons, panty liners etc…

The last item on this list is particularly important as the products are often expensive but they really are a necessity.

Please do support this very worthy cause. You are also welcome on the day of the event (March 8th) to come with us to the shelter.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates on the BLC Facebook page and website for drop off dates and collection points. Or contact Jennifer Scott McCue (email: areareps@blc.lu) to arrange to drop off products with her.

This event is to bring together members of the club, to enjoy a nice brunch, as well as to have FUN and raise money for our charities.

Second hand evening/cocktail dresses and accessories will be on sale against small prices for our charity pot! Keep in mind, there is some good stuff!

What can you bring? Yourself! Mood doesn’t matter, you will increase it by joining our event anyway!

Food? No, we will provide croissants, jams, ham and cheese, instant coffee, tea, orange juice, fruits and sparkling wine. BUT, if there is a special dessert that you think we MUST try, go ahead and bring it! We just don’t want to end up with a lot of leftover food!

There will be a game, which is a surprise for the moment, ending with three small prizes for the winners!

Can you help? YES, Let’s Recycle a Bit! If you have a dress (ONE only) that you no longer wear, or a piece of accessory, a perfume that is half used and you no longer wear, bring it over and we will hopefully sell it during the event, increasing the amount of our charity pot!

Come along and bring a friend or two. The more, the merrier! Our team is looking forward!

Bereldange is a parking friendly area! There is also one free outside parking space at my home, and that will be available on a first come first served bases!

October 1-31 is cancer awareness month and one of BLC’s chosen charities for the year 2017-2018 is Maggie’s Centres, a network of drop-in centres which aim to help anyone who has been affected by cancer. As of October 16th, the British Ladies Club will organize a 5-day walk based on pre-selected routes. Some of the routes are child friendly, so new moms can bring their strollers. The 5 day walk will go under Go Fund Me https://www.gofundme.com/tour, and will be an excellent opportunity for members and non-members to walk together, chat and most importantly, contribute to a great cause.
