5 May: YOUNG AUDIENCE FILM DAY of the EUROPEAN FILM ACADEMY
Luxembourg City Film Festival as we are organising this year’s YOUNG AUDIENCE FILM DAY of the EUROPEAN FILM ACADEMY on 5th May 2019 in Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg, and would like to draw your attention to one of the films shown during the day that could potentially be of interest to you: /Old Boys /by Toby MacDonald, a British-Swedish co-production:

OLD BOYS (UK, SE, 2018) by Toby MacDonald (95’ – English OV with French & German subt.)
‘Survival of the fittest’ is the philosophy at all boys boarding school Caldermount. If you’re not a champion on the sports field, you’re a nobody. No one knows this better than bookworm Amberson, who’s been at the bottom of the school’s social ladder since he can remember. When the new French teacher’s fiery daughter Agnes arrives, Amberson’s life is turned upside down. He suddenly finds himself playing matchmaker for Winchester, the school’s handsome but spectacularly dim school-hero in dire need of romantic assistance. Winchester definitely has the looks to win over Agnes but it’s Amberson who has the wits. But as Amberson himself falls for Agnes, will he have the courage to reveal himself to her and stand up for whom he really is?

The film will be shown on 5TH MAY AT 14:00 / 2PM at the Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg. THE SCREENING IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, just as the screenings of the two other films shown during the Young Audience Film Day.
The event is organised by the European Film Academy in 56 CITIES IN 35 COUNTRIES IN EUROPE AND BEYOND, Luxembourg is taking part for the fourth consecutive year. Please find ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE.

We are also looking for a Luxembourgish jury, made up of 12-to-14-year-old film fans, who – over the course of the day – are going to watch the three films selected by the European Film Academy and, in a truly European vote, will decide on the best European youth film of the year, together with the juries in the other participating countries. The winner will be awarded the European Film Academy Young Audience Award in Erfurt, Germany. Interested children or their parents can sign up or ask for more information via our e-mail address  register@luxfilmfest.lu
