Not sure what that means? It’s an evening where you bet (and win!) on horse races. Of course\, the races will not be live\, bu t shown pre-recorded on TV screens around the venue.
\nHow does it w ork? You can bet on the races for EUR 1 per ticket. Half of the proceeds o f each race will go to charity and the other half distributed to the holde rs of the winning tickets. First placed horses only to win. The odds will depend on the betting on the actual evening and will be announced before e ach race.
\nYou can also sponsor a horse in one of the races for EUR 5. Choose a name and your horse
\nwill be in the race programme and you can support it on the night. Winning owners will receive a prize! For the final race there will be an auction of the horses on the night!
\nWhat about food and drink? The generous package\, created in col laboration with Top Squash\, of €30 per person includes:< /p>\n

We will be o rganising a collection of underwear for the charity Smalls for All ( www.smallsforall.org). Smalls for All is a Scottish charity which coll ects and distributes underwear to help women and children in Africa and th e UK.
\nThey collect new or ‘gently worn’ bras which c an be any size\, including sports and nursing bras\, but not teen\, cropped-top style or bikini tops. (By ‘gently worn’ they mean bras that a re in good condition and still have good wear left in them.)
\nWe al l have those bras that never really fit properly and that we just don’t us e or know what to do with so please come and recycle them with us to donat e to this charity.
\nIn addition\, we will also collect donations of new packets of pants (underwear) for them. All you have to do is buy a pa cket of ladies’ or children’s pants and bring them to the coffee morning. They must be new and while they collect all sizes\, those they need the most are for children aged 3-15 or ladies size 8-14. An d while they collect all colours\, the ladies’ pants in greatest demand ar e black – in full brief\, midi\, mini or high leg (in the smaller sizes).< /p>\n
One of our committee members will be driving back to Scotland at E aster and we hope to squeeze our donations into her car so she can deliver them for us!
\nWe will also have a book sale of second-hand books w ith all the proceeds going to our charities this year\, so please come alo ng and browse.

We are organising a visit to the Spuerkeess Contemporary Art Gallery ‘Am Tunnel’. The Am Tunnel is 15 metres underground and some 350 metres long. In addition to temporary exhibitions\, there is a permanent e xhibition of the work of world-famous photographer Edward Steichen.
\n< p>Currently there is an exhibition by the photographer Christophe Van Bies en\, a Belgian photographer and artist\, of his landscapes of Luxembourg a nd from his many trips all over the world called ‘Home and Away’.\nArriving in Luxembourg in 2008\, he developed a speciality in photographin g the natural and urban landscapes of his adopted country. Over the course of his many travels around the globe\, the artist has also been able to t ake a series of photographs depicting landscapes and cities abroad. The va ried aesthetic of these landscapes aims to highlight our planet’s diversit y and beauty: from the vast landscapes of the North American continent to Asian megacities\, via Iceland\, France\, Italy and numerous other destina tions\; without of course forgetting Belgium\, the artist’s birthplace.
\nIt will appeal to all travellers and landscape photography enthusias ts and is at once dreamy\, exciting\, impressive and inspiring. Beyond the photographs\, the artist also seeks to convey a message that is dear to h im. In a world that is opening up more and more\, we\, as travellers\, mus t take responsibilities by reducing our ecological footprint. Sustainable tourism is key to preserving our planet for the future generations.
\n< p>We will have a guided tour of this exhibition by Christophe himself. Thi s will take place on Wednesday March 25th at 11am. \nClub Statutes (extract): Annual General Meeting (AGM)
\nConvening the AGM
\n8.1 The AGM of the Club shall be held annually within four months of the end of the financial year-end at such time and place in Luxembourg as may be determined by the Committee.
\n8.2 The date of the AGM will be ci rculated to members at least six weeks in advance of the meeting\, togethe r with a preliminary agenda and a call for items for the agenda. All such items must be submitted to the Secretary at least four weeks prior to the date of the meeting.
\n8.3 Full details of the AGM\, including a ful l agenda and a form for assigning a proxy vote\, will be circulated to mem bers at least two weeks in advance of the meeting.
\nProceedings
\n8.4 The AGM will be chaired by the outgoing Chairwoman (or\, in her ab
sence\, the outgoing Vice-Chairwoman).
8.5 The business to be tran sacted at the Annual General Meeting of members shall be:
\n(a) to c onfirm the minutes of the previous AGM and any EGM that may have taken pla ce during the financial year\;
\n(b) to receive and approve a report from the Chairwoman on the general functioning of the Club during the yea r\;
\n(c) to receive and approve a report from the Treasurer on the finances of the Club during the past financial year (see Clause 10.3)\;
\n(d) to receive the auditor’s report to the Committee and to appoint an auditor for the new financial year (see Clause 10.4)\;
\n(e) to a pprove a budget\, including a projected financial outcome\, for the new fi nancial year\;
\n(f) to set the membership subscription for the foll owing financial year (see Clause 5)\;
\n(g) to discharge the existin g Chairwoman and Committee\;
\n(h) to elect a Chairwoman and Committ ee for the coming year (see Clause 6.5)\;
\n(i) to elect any Honorar y Members of the Club as recommended by the Committee (see Clause 3.3)\;\n
(j) to consider any other items on the published agenda (see Clause s 8.2\, 8.3 and 9.3)\;
\n(k) to consider\, at the discretion of the Chairwoman\, any other business not included on the agenda.
\n8.6 An y resolution put to the vote shall be decided by simple majority on a show of hands\, unless at least five members present in person request a secre t ballot. Any such request will be granted and a secret ballot will take p lace. The Secretary of the meeting shall be the sole and absolute judge of the validity of the votes tendered at the meeting.
\nINTERNAL RULES
\nThese rules may only be altered by a properly constituted General
Meeting of the Club. However they do not form part of the Club’s statutes.
This means that they can be altered by a GM at which 5% of the membership
is represented.
1.2 The annual subscription will be reduced to two-thirds for members w ho join the Club for the first time in the second half of the financial ye ar. No such reduction will apply to previous members who re-join at any ti me in the financial year following a year in which they have been a member .
\n1.3 Members will be informed via the newsletter when their subsc riptions are due.
\n1.4 Each Area and each Activity within the Club will be allocated an annual budget to spend as they see fit. Such monies c an only be claimed against receipts (except for phone calls postage and pe trol money). The rates for such allocations are given in the Area Reps Gui de.
\n1.5 The Club will normally aim to have an operating reserve\, at the end of any financial year\, excluding the value of capital goods (s uch as computers)\, of around EUR 15\,000. This reserve will act as a buff er against any unforeseen problems or emergencies.
\n1.6 If the Club makes an operating surplus in any financial year the Committee may donate all or part of this surplus to charitable purposes in the next financial year. In addition\, Members and/or the Committee may donate to charity suc h additional sums as are raised from events organised specifically for thi s purpose (e.g. tombolas\, the car boot sale).
\n1.7 All Committee a nd other functions exercised within the remit of the Club are voluntary an d will not be remunerated.
\n2.2 If the Committee decides that a member should be exclu ded from the Club\, the member concerned will not be eligible to attend an y meetings of the Club from the moment that the Committee’s intention is m ade known to her in writing until the final decision to exclude or re-admi t her is taken by a General Meeting.
\n2.3 Any member who has been e xcluded from the Club may apply to re-join in the following year. Any such application must be explicitly accepted or rejected by the Committee.
\n3.2 Only paid-up membe rs of the Club and their partners and minor children may participate in fr ee Club activities regularly and free of charge.
\n3.3 Partners of B LC members may attend free meetings free of charge\, at the discretion of the organiser.
\n3.4 Guests (friends\, visitors etc.) may attend a m aximum of three free meetings free of charge without becoming members of t he Club.
\n3.5 Partners and guests may be asked to pay an additional fee to attend any meetings and events for which members are charged.
\n3.6 There shall be no smoking at any meetings or events organised by the Club unless the event is specifically advertised in advance in the new sletter as one at which smoking will be permitted.
\n4.2 Committee members with young children may claim babysitting expenses for t heir attendance at Committee meetings.
\n4.3 Retiring Committee memb ers will be thanked with the gift of a shopping voucher to the value of th e annual membership fee for each year of their service on the committee.\n
4.4 Committee members who leave the Committee will not be eligible for re-election to the Committee until a period equal to their period of s ervice on the Committee has elapsed.
\n4.5 If the Committee decides that one of its members should be removed from office\, that member will n ot be eligible to attend any Committee meetings from the moment of the vot e to exclude her until the final decision to appoint or dismiss that membe r from the Committee is taken by a General Meeting.
\n5.2 Retiring Area Reps and group organisers will be thanked with the gift of a shopping voucher to the value of the annual membership fee\, at the discretion of the committee.
